PREFACE

Essential initial actions or ‘first steps’

Once your ‘Land/Property Search’ has been undertaken, you will need to visit Crete and see the alternative areas of land or properties under consideration, to walk the boundaries, smell the air and take in the ambience of the surrounding landscape, only then will you know if this is the right place for your new home.

Once an Inspection Visit has resulted in a ‘decision in principle’ to proceed with a purchase, you must, in my opinion, undertake the following FIVE essential first steps when next in Crete:

  • Appoint an Architect/Structural Engineer
  • Open a Greek Bank Account
  • Obtain a Greek Tax Number
  • Appoint a Lawyer
  • Arrange for a Topographical Survey
