There are significant problems in Greece regarding the implementation of Health and Safety on construction projects.

Risk prevention and Health and Safety at work measures are often inadequate and ignored, with no apparent State or Local Authority monitoring.

A recent Report (2014) concluded that many small building companies in Greece were “unaware of the relevant Health and Safety Legislation, which is both out dated and excessively complex”.

As your builder is likely to employ less than 50 operatives, the responsibility for site safety is likely to rest with the owner of the building company in his capacity as ‘the Health and Safety Representative’.
